[CECAD NEWS] PLASTIC POLLUTION – PART 3

Africa has the highest percentage of countries with plastic bans compared to other continents.

Countries in Africa also actively built their plastic recycling networks with survey data from tracking devices to improve truck routes and expand trash collection services in rural areas.

Australia also entered the race against plastic pollution with the Australian Government’s Recycling and Waste Reduction Act 2020, enacted in December 2020. The law banned the export of unsorted plastic wastes overseas where they can be dumped in landfill or in the environment. The legislation ensured that households recycle their plastic waste bins and reuse them in the internal economy.
