HG Travel Hands Over Investment Categories to Cu Travel Group

After one year of the project “Support for community-based tourism” at Cu village Tu Ne commune, Tan Lac district, Hoa Binh province, the representative of HG travel has handed over investment categories to the Cu travel group on 15 November, 2012 with the presence of the Chairman of Tu Ne commune People’s committee – Mr. Quach Hai and the leader of Cu village – Mr. Bui Van Dau.

In addition to the investments for holiday homestays, instruments for the entertainment team, signposts and information boards introducing the project, Muong culture, pictures, and travel maps, HG travel has helped Cu people promote tourism of the village in particular and Tu Ne and Thanh Hoi commune in general via its website, leaflets and through tourism fairs in the UK and New Zealand. Members of Cu community-based tourism group participated in training on an overview of tourism and tourism services; operation and implementation of tourism programs and other activities related to tour management; guiding skills for local tour guides; how to decorate food, and so on. The menu which uses traditional cooking ingredients of the Muong and suits the taste of tourists is built by HG travel and members of the cooking group.

The project aims to raise awareness and professionalism of the community in organizing and performing tourism programs as well as support and investment items to bring convenience and comfort to travelers. The product group of HG travel has also brought more tourism activities into the Cu tourism program so that tourists can experience more Muong culture and participate in activities that support the community.

As farmers, it is not easy for Cu villagers to be involved in tourism and approach visitors. Therefore, skills training by representatives of HG travel will probably be more effective when there are more visitors to come to Cu village. Hopefully, in the future, community-based tourism in Cu will grow well, people will be able to manage travel services themselves, and Cu children will have the chance to go to school and become tour guides allowing them to return home to help local tourism so that cultural and traditional values are upheld. After that, Cu village will become an attractive destination. Local people are the ones who bring their cultural values to tourists all around the world.
