[CCBO-VN003] AGREEMENT SIGNING CEREMONY PROJECT “PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY-LED SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT IN PHU QUOC ISLAND”

On August 22, 2022, the Center for Environment and Community Resource Development (CECAD) cooperated with the People’s Committee of An Thoi Ward and the People’s Committee of Ganh Dau Commune to organize the Agreement Signing Ceremony of the Project “Promoting quality management community-based sustainable solid waste in Phu Quoc” under the “Clean Cities, Blue Oceans” (CCBO) Program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).


The project is expected to be implemented in 24 months with two main phases, including:

Phase 1: Establish a community-led solid waste management model
Phase 2: Pilot community-led solid waste management model and document lessons learned.

The project aims to achieve the following results: increased understanding of government capacity for effective 3R/SWM programming, existing waste value chains, and community perceptions of and interest in SWM; Community-led SWM model designed; Community-led SWM Pilot implemented; Increased capacity of community and government in sustainable 3R/SWM practices; and Community-led plastic and organic recovery pilot documented for refinement and replication.

After signing the Memorandum Of Understanding, CECAD, CCBO, and related parties will carry out research activities in Phase 1 of the project.
