[FLC 20-02] “FLASH STEPS OF THE YOUTH” RUNNING EVENT 2022
On April 7, 2022, the Center for Environment and Community Assets Development (CECAD) cooperated with Tien Giang Provincial Youth Union to organize the running competition “Flash steps of the youth” in Tien Giang province at Go Cong Dong district stadium (Tan Hoa town, Go Cong Dong district, Tien Giang province).
The running competition “Flash steps of the youth” – “Adapting to drought and saline intrusion in the Mekong Delta” is an activity in the framework of FLC Project 20-02 “Strengthening Communication Capacity for Better Climate Resilience in the Mekong River Delta” (CCBCR) funded by the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam.
In the opening speech of the event, Ms. Le Thi Van Hue – Deputy Director of the Center shared: “This event is a strong and positive way of communicating about adaptation to drought and saline intrusion in the Mekong Delta. The union members and youth are young forces, with great potential for development, who will bring their enthusiasm to share knowledge about prevention, control, and adaptation to drought and saline intrusion to the community. They will also help to create sustainable livelihoods for themselves for the young entrepreneurs”.
With a distance of 5 km for men and 2.5 km for women, the Organizing Committee awarded 2 First prizes, 2 Second prizes, 4 Third prizes, and 10 Consolation prizes to the participants who successfully completed the run.
The event has contributed to promoting the effectiveness of community activities in the prevention of drought and saline intrusion, and climate change resilience, especially for localities that are directly affected by these issues in Tien Giang province.
