Workshop on Improve forest governance in order to ensure the sustainability of the climate in Hua Pang and Chieng Hac, Moc Chau district, Son La province.

On 12/09/2014, Centre for Environment and Community Asset Development CECAD conducted Workshop on Improve forest governance in order to ensure the sustainability of the climate in Hua Pang and Chieng Hac, Moc Chau District, Son La province.

Participants were representatives of the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam, representatives of Forestry Department in Son La Province and Moc Chau district, along with the representatives of Hua Pang and Chieng Hac People’s Committees.

At the workshop, Associate Professor Le Dien Duc, Director of CECAD highlighted the importance of the development and conservation of forest in the current context, as well as the practical benefits of such activities.

Representatives of the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam, Ms. Le Thi Thu Huong said Embassy hope this project will help local government and people to increase the average income and raise awareness of local forest management.

PhD. Le Thi Van Hue, Deputy Director of CECAD also presented information on the objectives; content conducted and desired outcomes of the project. Then, the participating parties conducted discussions on both advantages and disadvantages of the project.

At the workshop, representatives of Forestry Department of Son La province and Moc Chau district expressed support for the objectives of the project, and hope the project would be a crucial step for the research and protection of forest. Commune People’s Committee’s representatives of of Hua Pang and Chieng Hac also hope the project will be a model for local people to gain work experience.
