The study tour on community forestry and poverty alleviation in Chiang Mai, Thailand

From the 5th March to 9th March 2007, CECAD organised a study tour on community forestry and poverty alleviation for the local officials from Son La, Nghe An and Gia Lai provinces where the center conducted case studies.  This is a joint activity between the Center for Environment and Community Assets Development (CECAD) which is under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association (VUSTA) and Thailand Research Fund (TRF) in the framework of the project on Community Forestry and Poverty Alleviation in Vietnam implemented by CECAD.The study tour aims at:

  • Introducing concepts of community forestry and community – based management to Vietnamese officials.
  • Show them success community forestry models that are managed by Thai local communities.
  • Raising awareness of the local officials regarding community forestry and community based management
